(10,418 posts)Way, way ahead of its time. It still makes some modern music sound primitive. It's tied for my favorite by Jimi, "1983...A Merman I Should Turn to Be" being my other favorite.
That gets me high just listening to it.

(21,925 posts)His jazz background and the fullness he provided to that trio with his ever present subtle chops made him the best rock drummer of the era, in my opinion. He could play with the raw power of a Keith Moon and also the fluidity, complexity, restraint, and soulfulness of a great jazz drummer. Mitch was a devotee of Elvin Jones and Max Roach. Jimi in fact called him "my Elvin Jones".
