I have a pic I need some help with. It's a lithograph, looks like a Renoir...we were told it was, but we're starting to think otherwise.
My brother thought he'd try to take it out of the frame, but it's very professionally done and doesn't want to ruin it.

(20,176 posts)I took two semesters in college. can you get a more well-lit picture (Try the bathroom...all those people taking their pic in the baño in the mirror are not on the wrong track, it is the most well-lit room in most houses.) at a tighter-framing of the photo, I really need to see the print but have no need to see the frame or wall.

(9,902 posts)I'm at home at this point, but I can get it done tomorrow, if that works for you?
Oh, and thank you for replying!

(130,974 posts)And I wouldn't touch/mess with it at this point.
A family friend of ours has an old restoring and framing art business in NYC. If you end up wanting a professional opinion, let me know.

(20,176 posts)Edit: Nope, close pic but not the same subject. I do think it's an authentic lithograph of a Renoir based on technique and style.
Edit 2: Compare the technique and style to this known Renoir entitled A Girl Reading and you see why I think the framed print you have is Renoir.

(9,902 posts)she can't anymore, but she's a rather self-taught historian. This is a gift for her, she'll be coming home after being in the hospital and two nursing homes after three months. It was purchased by my brother from a local antique dealer, who claims it's a 1920 litho Renior. The frame and mount are very professionally done.
