Need help finding a movie title

The movies is about a couple trekking through the 'Stan countries with a guide. It's about 2 years old.

Who was in it?

Drama or comedy?

Was that the sole major plot or was it a braided-plot like Magnolia or Babel where there are several seemingly unconnected plot-lines and they they all converge at various points?

I don't know it off the top of my head but I can probably look it up, the more info I have the faster it'll be.

2. It's a young couple

They're sort of hippies and are traveling around the world. It's pretty serious. They're in love but when they come across a band of rebels, the guy sort of uses his girlfriend as a shield. After that incident, their relationship changes and there's a great deal of tension.

4. I saw it

The country, as I recall, was Georgia. It was one of those movies that, at the end, you look at your friend and say, "what the hell was the point of that?" The scenery was magnificent, but the rest was ho-hum.
