These 4 Sisters Were Photographed Every Year For 36 Years

The year was 1975 when world-renowned Nicolas Nixon, a professor of photography at the Massachusetts College of Art originally photographed his wife Bebe and her 3 sisters. They were so impressed with the result, they collectively decided to make it a yearly event, the annual family photo. 36 years later, the sisters and Nicolas had all kept their promise, resulting in these 36 beautiful and candid photographs.

They largely remained pretty slim throughout, which is pretty impressive. I'll bet they were all pretty active throughout.

some photos where a couple of them are almost ready to crack a smile. And in other photos they seem to be smiking just a bit. The first photo looks like each one of them could reach down the throat of any guy who gets out of line and tear their heart out.

It is pretty interesting how much change can happen in a year.

5. The second sister from the left really aged a lot from 2005 to 2007.

I know some of it has to do with lighting, but I started wondering if she had an illness or something.

It's pretty fascinating.

I can't believe how much my bestie seemed to age in the two years her marriage crumbled and she got her divorce. Infidelity, money problems, harassment from her ex and the other woman, threats to take the children and other concerns made her look like she'd aged 10 years. Being in the Army during wartime, I saw young, bright-eyed youths become hard-faced men with harsh lines in their faces or injured ones become wasted and shrunk with disability or PTSD within the space of a few years. Life experiences, sickness and injuries take their toll on you.
