(149,719 posts)I'm sorry to hear this.
Insomnia sucks!
I've had that far too many times...
Are you going to do a William Shakespeare this weekend? I hope you'll have time!

(66,467 posts)Haven't come up with a theme yet; or a quote. I could do it now, I suppose. I'm awake anyway.
But I prefer to do it in the morning, when the day is young and full of promise. And I can peruse my source material while drinking some good coffee...

(149,719 posts)I think doing it in the morning is an excellent idea...
Hope you get some sleep!
See you tomorrow...

(27,640 posts)I shouldn't have gone to bed so early. Now I'll be up for awhile.

(66,467 posts)But tonight, it's my fault. I had a cup of hot chocolate just an hour or so before bed. I knew that was a mistake!...

(27,640 posts)I'm sure it's hereditary in my case. My dad used to wake up way before daylight and pass the time alone playing solitaire.

Try counting backwards from 1000 by threes: 100, 997, 994, 991...

(3,702 posts)I only sleep for about 2-3 hours at a time - any little thing wakes me up, and when I am up I stay up.
I sleep all day in 3 hr shifts, then can't sleep well at night. Its a catch-22, can't sleep at night - tired all day, nap then can't sleep all night etc etc
Part is depression and not having a job, so its easy to be a lazy ass at home.
I am sorry you have insomnia, it sucks and its frustrating!

(66,467 posts)Sounds way more screwed up than mine...

(66,467 posts)I finally went to bed about a half hour before your reply. But I appreciate it...

(2,682 posts)It's a screwed up inner clock. I'm retired so I don't have to get up in the mornings. Therefore I've reverted to my inner clock schedule that says it's perfectly ok to go to bed at 3:00 am and sleep 6 - 8 hours and then do it all over again. I don't mind. The house is quiet (the others went to bed about 10:00), the cats have even bedded down for the night. The last one to come between me and the computer screen was about a half hour ago. I'm not going to drink any more tea so I won't have to get up in a few hours to pee. I've been plugging away at some genealogy on-line research which really eats up the time. And then there's DU -- always there, always something new to read. Hope you can catch some ZZZZZ's pretty soon.

(719 posts)I was prone to it from time to time when I worked shift work...the revolving body clock was not my friend. But it was at least infrequent. Now it's a rare day when I'm not wide awake long before my alarm goes off. I can never get back to sleep. Fortunately, my dog is good company.
