"Children are like convicts in prisons"

This was the sentence I heard upon walking past the coffee machine this morning. I have no idea of the context of this thought, but I must say, it totally intrigued me. I was in a rush and had to get to some's office for a phone call, so I could not stop to find out what exactly my two co-workers were talking about. Now I am playing a game and trying to guess the context of that sentence.

Anyone have any ideas? I'll see the guy at lunch and ask what they were talking about and post it later.

one guy's (it was two men talking) kid transferred to a new high school and got in a fight the first day of school with the biggest kid there in order to show he was an alpha. (I have seen this guy's kids and both of them are huge football players, 17 and 16, and I am pretty sure either of them could take me easily in a physical altercation)
