teens, get off my lawn :p

Do teenagers listen to their parents ? I know I blocked mine out, 99% of the time. I'd like to think some of the wisdom I blather to my son actually stays in his mind and he uses it.

Sigh.

My boyfriend has a 13 year old son and a soon to be 16 year old daughter. He talks to them a lot about any number of things. It often appears they pay him no mind, but then I see or hear snippets of things they say to each other or their friends and it makes me think it sinks in, even if they are not "actively" listening.

Good luck. I now understand why babies and toddlers are so cute...to prepare you for the dreadful teen years when everything is a HUGE deal, they think you don't know a thing about life and their pressures, and don't even get me started on the hormones!!!

I will say, they are generally great kids. Their poor horomones, peer pressure, etc. just makes them insane on occasion.

I'm sure yours are hearing you, even if they don't want you to think that they are.

I've talked to my son about every important topic imaginable (including sex) and a number of unimportant ones :p

Hopefully I have not been wasting my breath. Time will tell.
