Charlie Byrd - 0ne of my earliest guitar heroes

He was a giant of the jazz guitar, playing "fingerstyle" (i.e. no pick) on a nylon string classical guitar. Along with Stan Getz, he led the wave in the early 60s to popularize the Brazilian sound in the U.S. with the wonderful Bossa Nova compositions of Antonio Carlos Jobim. He was also great at playing straight ahead Be-bop.
