Getting rid of "fat clothes"

A happy thing, this weekend I am going through closets and drawers, purging everything I was wearing between about 170 and the horrible 210 to shocking 220 I hit. Pants between 38 and 42, size XL shirts and sweaters. XL underwear. Even some winter coats. And 44L suits.

My size 36 pants and 16-16 1/2 shirts and the rest of my "normal" sized clothes are now happily enjoying the spacious luxury of their now less-packed surroundings.

I'm talking a lot of stuff, probably 50 pairs of pants and shirts, etc. All going to St Vincent de Paul.

Careful medically supervised diet, professionally supervised exercise program. A lot of hard work.

went from a 38 waist to a 34, 200 lbs to 160 (i'm at 170 now).

Cut out sugar, watched my intake, and every night on an exercise bike ... started out at 15 min, gradually up to 1 hour.

Right hand up to God.

"Fell off the wagon" after 160, that's why I hover around 170.

I did that, was heavy, up to about 190, got to 155 then back up. Never again. My big mistake the first time, was going to Weight Watchers, slipped up and gained 5 lbs over Christmas. Said I would go back when I lost those 5 lbs, never happened.

the decline started in 2005. By fall 2005, I was staying in low 160s.

2012, ended up in mid-high 170s.

back down, now to around 170, sometimes staying for a few days just under 170.

Still overweight, but really should get back down to low 160s. Doctor said ideal for my height was 150. I laughed.

Interviewed on Person To Person Gleason was showing Ed Murrow his apartment. He opened this huge walk-in closet filled with rows of suits, sport jackets and shirts galore. Murrow said that's quite a wardrobe. Gleason then opened an adjoining closet.

Same size walk-in with identical suits etc. but Gleason explained that one was his 'fat' closet and the other was his 'thin' clothes.

What you have done is great. Good for you.

I have no intention of going back. They all go. And, someone can use them, there are a lot of nice clothes, many with very little wear.

Hey,
Glad things are working for you. I guess I'm worried about gaining back and if I gave away my larger pants I would then need to get new ones. I'll give it another year I think just to be on the safe side. Although I seem to be stabilized and in fact was a bit worried I was losing too much.

Peace
