(28,749 posts)Season two was to him/drum to me. I like that the first episode brought in a somewhat close to "true" story.

(15,696 posts)I went on that haunted new Orleans tour and we saw Marie Lavaux's alleged tomb in San Louis #1 cemetery.

(28,749 posts)When I was there, we did see the mansion and heard the story of the torture. I will try to find some pics I took because we actually felt we saw a face in the window... Very scary! We were also three sheets to the wind though since we had been at the cats meow karaoke bare previously
Love NOLA.

(21,925 posts)and I very rarely watch any new made-for-TV series anymore, but I'm a horror fan.
I was particularly impressed with the young actress with the unusual name, Taissa Farmiga. She has an ancient face, which is probably why she was chosen. I don't mean she looks old, but she has a young person's face that reminds me of ancient times, like how Juliet might look in Romeo and Juliet. To me, she looks like she walked right out of the painting of a Renaissance Italian master. I love her face. And she has talent as well.

(41,991 posts)I don't mind really, except maybe for Marie Laveau, who was an amazing, powerful woman whose influence and abilities are kind of diminished by thinking of her as the modern day version of a voodoo queen. She had tremendous influence in politics and the church, and in fact was probably two people, mother and daughter. She did practice voudoun, but was also a treateur and helped many, many people.
Madame LaLaurie, now, that was apparently one horrific, horrific woman, at least according to the legends. The house is in fact kind of creepy, but I can't tell you why. It's big and beautifully kept and is slap in the middle of the Quarter, but you have to know it's there. I think they must hate random tourists hanging around because the house number isn't on it. Nicolas Cage did own it for a while but I don't think he ever lived there. Can't say I blame him.
I love the older actresses and Gabourey Sidibe but I do kind of hate the "mean girls" approach. Every girl in the world isn't a cute blonde. I hope that is a plot point that will serve some purpose.
But, New Orleans being New Orleans, people will be glad some money was and will be spent. Period.
Enjoy, mes chers.
