That was a popular bumper sticker where I used to live. Haven't seen them around here.
I've run across a lot of mean people in my time. I think some of them were just miserable for some reason or another and didn't really like being mean, they just couldn't help it.
Then there are those who get a kick out of being assholes. Those are the people I have absolutely no use for. I used to think everyone was my equal, but if you get a kick out of being mean I'm definitely better than you.
I was mistreated badly early in life and I have the psychiatric medication to prove it. That has had one good outcome, though. It made me a kind person after I made it past the insanity. My sig line is for those people and all of the assholes of the world. I'm living well now and life just keeps getting better...and there's nothing you can do about it.

Thanks for the thoughtful post!

And I am living well now, and enjoying myself.
I'm glad you are too...

(10,418 posts)I read your book of poems and found it to be quite steamy. How much of your poetry would you say borders on erotica? It's good stuff and congrats on getting it in print.

(149,620 posts)I'd say probably half............
This little book was self-published.........vanity press, some call it.
There wasn't any struggle getting it published, since I did it myself, with the help and expertise of a local printer.

(10,418 posts)I knew it was self published, but doing the writing and getting everything together as well as paying for the printing is still an accomplishment.
Did you know John Grisham self published "A Time to Kill" before someone picked him up? He turned that self published novel into a second career as a writer.

(149,620 posts)I didn't know that about John Grisham. Good for him. A number of successful authors have done this, and it led to a successful career.
