Should be interesting. And, you know the title implies that an accident will happen on day 31...

Episode Synopsis: The Season 4 opener finds Rick and the group aiming to maintain a close-to-ideal life at the prison. Original Air Date: Oct 13, 2013

Won't be on for another 12 hours, but I'm a bit anxious with all the BS going on with the Tea Party shutdown.

some spoilers & news for the upcoming season:

Anytime society breaks down, albeit from a natural disaster, etc, you start to see nasty diseases popping up. Here you have society and it's infrastructure completely gone. AND you have rotting corpses both walking and lying around everywhere, it's only natural that some truly nasty diseases would appear. A lot of emphasis on not thinking of food as pets...or the dead as human. Maybe someone who sees them like Hershel used to see them?

I was wondering if Tyreese cracked. How he doesn't want to kill them close-up and personal and now he seems to be skittish about killing them on runs. But that could be a distraction from the real culprit.

Probably one of the new people we haven't met yet.

Also, the hand in the flashlight looks white to me. I'll have to look again when that part replays.

What if Patrick was part of the rat feeding before he died? Maybe it was 2 of them and that's why Patrick was the first one to get sick? Or maybe the preview was a flashback and it was just Patrick feeding the walkers?.... But now the disease is inside the walls of the prison.

But another preview shows Sasha saying "Sombody is feeding them"....so there has to be someone else.

Didn't they hint at taking in others over the course of those passing months? Not just from Woodbury but other strangers? (Hence the 3 questions)

So...it could be one of those strangers.

Or it could be the 2 aren't connected. I somehow doubt it though.

Though the dead are still contagious once infected while alive...can the dead be infected? Could the bleeding eye walkers have recently died from the disease? (Newer walkers...they don't look as rotten as some)

Are rat droppings (or decaying dead rats) getting into the food supply through slop fed to the pigs?

Are the rats eating the animal food or biting the animals?

Are arthropods biting the animals and transmitting the disease?

Who is feeding the walkers rats and where are they getting the rats and where are they keeping the rats. To sneak off to feed the walkers the rats would have to be handy.

The people at the fence have to be getting blood on them when they drive weapons into the heads of walkers...so are they getting the disease along with the blood spatter?

Means a lot more will get sick.

Damnit! What are they going to put us through this season!

Our crew seemed to be covered in blood at times in the past.

You know the writers can't let our guys have a easy life at the prison.

Nice bed, enough food, and some down time to relax.

No.

The town people were behind walls away from the walkers.

Our guys were around them daily.

Could be.

He was peeling back the skin on the head of the walker.

He knows.

I'm afraid they get rid of Judith this way and create (renew an old one actually) more conflict between Rick and Carl.

Carl wasn't happy, at first, about the Woodbury people coming at the end of last season. Carl would blame Rick should his sister die from anything a former Woodbury resident does.

I don't know. lol

Just guessing. Gonna be a wild ride!

The new guy in town says he was a medic in the army.

He seemed to know something already.

He was peeling back the skin off the head of the walker trying to eat him.

I bet this guy is more then a medic.

Keep your eye on him.

Of course the writers might just be throwing something out there.

You never know on this show.

It doesn't follow the comics.

Could be he is the culprit.

I think we'll be getting more and more of his backstory soon.

He's only been there a month and he was real anxious to "pull his weight"...and Sasha was unsure about his coming out so soon.

I'll be rewatching everything again today. My SO was out and couldn't watch, so we are watching together today.

ETA: Watching for the 3rd time. He's been there a week. Daryl found him out on his own. Still didn't catch his name. (silly me) Looks pretty good for someone who has been living on his own.

The creepy woman in the woods was a to throw us off.

The medic dude was standing guard outside the store and was looking at a dead body that was carried out of the store.

He was really looking at the body.

Inside the store he was the one that messed up, making all the noise with the bottles.

Does he have drinking problem also.

Maybe he knows something because he was working in military hospital before or after the walkers.

He was laying in his bunk at the end of the show looking worried.

There is something there.

He was found walking around on his own also.

Looked pretty good for someone on his own.

Just saying.

I had noticed the new guy seemed to stand outside the department store for a few seconds before being the last one to head in...but, once you put it all together like that, it does seem suspicious.

My SO read an article yesterday, an interview with Kirkman, about the premiere.

Kirkman said that we might have already seen elements of the governor's return. Elements we didn't recognize as indicating his reappearance. Maybe the medic? The feeding of walkers with rats?

The disease?

All connected?

The medic's clothing didn't look worn at all. Looked rather new. Like he had access to a store.

Our crew were down to eating a can of dog food that Carl found.

The Gov took off, and landed somewhere.

Maybe the medic is from another group we don't know about.

If I had to say who was feeding the rat to the walker I would say it was him.

As of now.

Of course it could be anybody in the new people added.

Lets see if he gets sick.

That might be a clue.

107. I think he'll survive that. (sorta like in the comics)
Tue Oct 15, 2013, 02:15 PM
Oct 2013

I like Sasha too but I think of the two Tyreese will survive the longest.

Sasha is the strong one in a lot of ways. Tyreese is feeling the effects of living in such a world and it is beating him down. Recall how he said about her bossing him around and stuff? It was playful but there has always been a subtext of her being better equipped to survive (willing to let the injured woman be left behind(at the prison when they first found it), knows how to shoot, leads groups on runs, a "hard sell" for new people). Tyreese has a temper but he also has a good heart. A tender heart, I think.

Those that survived haven't always been those best equipped to survive. Those that struggle with everything seem to be the ones that survive...those and the truly evil ones. Kinda like what Morgan said to Rick.

Which I think is a major theme throughout the show. How you survive, what you need to do to survive.

Clara, creepy woods lady, brought that more into focus with her, "No coming back from the things you've done".

Rick, toward the end of season 3, also touched on it with the 'We decide as a group, how we live, how we die' speech.

I dunno. Just speculating.

108. People have different ways of handling stress.
Tue Oct 15, 2013, 02:28 PM
Oct 2013

I do have PDST, like the people on the show would have.

I have learned to handle it.

It is getting better, of course I don't have walkers trying to eat me either.

You are right, some of us are better at it.

Creepy woods woman never could handle it, Eddie did everything.

Some will make and others won't.

One thing I have learned is how to handle stress.

Sometimes a good cry helps, or take a long walk.

Don't let it built up, find some escape.

That is how you make it.

Rick is a farmer, Hershel has a new fake leg, WOMAN IN THE WOODS WAS CREEPY, holy crap that pig!, ZOMBIE HANGING BY ITS GUTS AT THE STORE, many zombies had eyes that were bleeding, and that kid died from something mysterious! I'm guessing that'll be new "big bad" this season. A new virus. Possibly a mutated zombie virus. Maybe it's something that is picked up in the water (they were focusing on the water a lot in this episode). Ebola, perhaps? We'll see.

I'm excited!

Dead walker bodies not burned just laying around.

That couldn't be good, maybe walker bodies in the water.

I do wonder what will happen to our crew.

What about the baby.

The new guy, the medic knows something.

He was messing the head of the walker, he knows something.

94. There should be a lot of wild hogs running around the woods.
Mon Oct 14, 2013, 05:47 PM
Oct 2013

There are a lot of wild hogs in Texas.

I wouldn't think you would even need to raise hogs, just of kill a few.

Wild hogs could more then the walkers could handle.

The people on the show will fall into two groups.

Those tough enough to make it and those to soft.

With stress you have to learn to relax some how.

I would make it.

I don't want to live in that world, but I would make it.

PDST would be common, just learn to control it.

I wonder why they haven't tied together some car batteries to the fence with cable jumpers.

I bet even walkers would learn not to touch the fence.

That would help with the walkers.

There are enough cars parked all over the place.

It was a mixture of sources of flu virus genes, to include swine/avian/human.

Maybe some sort of super H1N1 -2009 that has mutated?
