ADORable.

Hi,

a lot of you seem to be concerned about how I took the video. I put my phone in an iPhone holder that I use in my car for hands free calls. Its attached to the driver side door. The phone fell out once because I was on a back road which was quite bumpy. Tommy is also buckled in via his harness so hes safe as a house. I appreciate all the concerns, especially about Tommy being buckled in because that's important, but i assure you all it was perfectly safe, i wouldn't have done it otherwise.

You should all re-watch the video safe in the knowledge that me, Tom and the roads of Ireland are safe as ever

he felt the need to put up a disclaimer. Looks like it was ok, all things considered.

In general dog don't like having their paws held. Some trainers recommend that you grab your dogs paws briefly if they jump up because they dislike it and a brief hold will discourage them.

This dog is likely looking for a treat or has in some other way been rewarded for this behavior. A common way to teach "paw" (or "shake" hands) is to put a treat in your hand and close it, the dog will paw at your closed fist. It looks very much like what this dog is doing.

Cute all the same.

in the beginning Tommy was looking out the window not paying him any attention until he put his hand on the seat, then the dog looked at it and started in.

Anyway, it's the human-ness of the interaction that is so cute. Animals that can communicate/interact on that level are pretty amazing. My own dog doesn't paw me like that but she does do what I call a "butt up". She comes charging at me and then puts her head in my lap and presses really hard against me with her butt wiggling in the air. I've never seen anything like it and it is charming beyond words, lol.

Tommy is also, charming beyond words.
