I saw this car in person today. It's probably the most beautiful industrial work I've ever seen.

The new Ferrari F12berlinetta...731-hp naturally-aspirated V12, 0-60 in around three seconds, and it has a reasonably sized trunk. Granted, it starts at over $330,000, but my filthy capitalist pig ass can dream of working hard

In all seriousness though, it's so amazing looking it's quite seriously a work of art. 0.001% and all that, but money can buy some damn nice design.

The side recess actually starts up on the hood behind the wheel arch, it sucks in the excess air compressed in front of the windshield and redirects it to smooth the boundary layer along the door and rear wheel. Most of the design is actually functional like that, but form that follows function is instinctive and I find it far more rewarding to the eye as opposed to form that follows "design".

The future Mrs. Pball's first exclamation on seeing it today (we had both seen it before on TV, I saw it at the dealer and met her later to gawk) was "can we f*ck on the hood of that thing?!" There's no insignificant art to making it look THAT good...

Build street legal racecars.

I had the opportunity to transport and drive several models back in the late 90's including an F-50. The F-50, the Enzo and the FXX were nothing but detuned, street legal Formula One cars with full body coverings.

It was ostensibly done by their "tame racing driver" The Stig, who later in that episode unveiled himself as Michael Schumacher himself - needless to say he wasn't Stig, but he did drive the FXX (the only black one, made for hime with his personal logo on the seats) on the lap. It's fucking pure brilliance.

Weird thing though, the F12 isn't their "sports" model. That's the 458, midengine 2-seater. The F12 is a big, rear-drive grand touring car, with backseat storage and a genuine trunk to boot! Still, it's probably the most no-holds-barred car that's legal today.

Beautiful car, but an beautiful car from the past in terms of technology.

An electric exotic supercar would be crazy!

Their newest hypercar, the successor to the Enzo, is a 900-hp hybrid:

It's going to be a while until electrics can beat the lightness and endurance of petrol though, I suspect at the edges of the envelope where these cars live, it's going to be a couple of decades yet.
