Here I am after accepting my induction into an international honor society for business students. I am a senior and I have a 4.0 GPA. Only students who have a GPA of 3.71 or better if they are seniors and who are in the top 20% of their classes are offered membership.

(68,644 posts)Beautiful. You two, you both, happy and smiling and the happy smiling a result of your being right there together.
You two fucking rock!
Thanks for the smiles!

(10,418 posts)I'm not sure if we'd be together if it weren't for DU. We didn't meet here, but just the whole idea of meeting people from online might not have occurred to me if it weren't for this place.

(10,418 posts)Probably the most serious clothing accessory that I've ever bought. Counting the shoes, suit, and tie I was probably wearing about $500 worth of clothes that evening. That's big money for clothes for a guy who normally wears bib overalls and t-shirts.
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)every now and again. lol, that's big money for most folks but well spent as it's a great tie (and other stuff too!)

(12,676 posts)It's tough maintaining a GPA high average and working. Having a supportive spouse helps, doesn't it?

(currently holding a 3.85 going into the last year of a BSB - but that's only because my boss lets me do homework during lunch, and my husband has set a "No DU until you finish your homework" policy...)

(10,418 posts)Yes. I think it really sunk in for my wife at that ceremony. This isn't just about me settling unfinished business. It's about our future and what happened there that night is another step forward leading to a better life.
Keep up the good work!

(28,784 posts)I know the hard work that goes into that - especially with family responsibilities.
I worked while my ex was in grad school, then went back to school myself. then found out... oops! I'm preggers. But kept at it (school and preggers.)
When I was nominated for Phi Beta Kappa, the wife of one of my hub's colleagues came to me and said... congrats, but in my field, they don't offer that. She repeated this about three times. Okay. She was in business... anyway, I told my ex not to bother to tell anyone he knew when I was nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship because those sorts of congrats from people were... strange. Turned out you couldn't be married and receive one anyway, so the issue was moot.
BUT I am here to say... yes, you do have those things in your field...
and BIG CONGRATS to you.
xoxo.

(4,443 posts)We need young people to get involved. Run for office in your district...or something. You are obviously tenacious. There must be something a business major can do to HELP the majority instead of hurt it as in the status quo. Get a job in local government and expose the thieves.
Sorry for ranting. I'm very proud of you. Hope you go further.
