Got the word, going into Surgery in March.... Woohoo!

Better days ahead. Can life not get any more funner than this? I guess I better go shoppin for a surgery gown and some decent slippers. Oh, and for those of you wondering its for an apparent cyst or something on one of my adrenalin glands...that is TOSSING out stuff to give me High blood Pressure. Doc says once that's gone, I should be A- Okay... so knock me the hell out and keep me in FOR three or four days. Gotta find a Cat hotel as well... YAY!!

but I know it will probably come fast... meh. Not really looking forward to this..I HAVE never had real surgery before. Had a cyst removed from my neck once. I have had numbers of dental surgery... and was awake for that.

This is a different, big scary animal. Putting that mask over my face, telling me to breath and waking up several hours later feeling like the SAN FRANCISCO FOG has invaded my brain... um... its gonna be different. I would guess.

Even happier that it's not something more serious. Hope all goes well and that your recuperation goes quickly.

As for cat hotels, check with your vet. They can often recommend boarding facilities, or even a pet-sitters. Your cat might actually prefer the latter. They prefer to stay home, in their own territory. If you go that option, just be sure to get one that is bonded--unless you have a good friend who is willing to come cat-sit for you.

.. that's what the nurses gave me. They did not want to see my rear, and didn't give me any tag-team sponge-baths. I was so jealous of MFM.

As for slippers, they gave me socks with rubber dots on the bottom, for traction on the slippery floor. Safe, I guess, but not as fun as sliding in those long halls.

I'm sure the socks and extra robe are line items on an infinite list of charges.

I suppose in recovery, being smelly can happen in three or four days. Some how I got past that while in the hospital the last time. No sponge bath, but they did hand me my own sponge and soap in a container and said..."have at it hoss, if you feel smelly!".

Kimi... you should let your doctor know that your adrenal gland is giving
you occasional fits of ridiculously irrational delirium.
.
I've always liked your spirit and attitude and I know they're enough to
easily beat what you're facing, but I'm going to give you something that
you can use to help you face anything or anyone that may come at you
in the future.
.
I hope that I've shown you that, if you invoke this, you'll be able to face
catastrophic illness and/or injury and eventually kick its ass.
.
It (or he/she/they) may be able to kick your ass for awhile, but you
will never be knocked out.

Do you think they will allow me to have a Lap top with me? Actually the last time I was in the hospital they gave me a lap top but of course I could not download any programs I wanted. IF I brought my own lap top, IMVU could keep me company during the days I am recovering and DU as well.

That would make it worth it... knowing I had support from my friends as I needed it.

I have always had mine with me from the ER to discharge -- the hospital does make me sign a form
saying they aren't responsible for theft. The staff are building lifetime careers -- they're not going to
risk getting fired for one crappy ol' laptop.
.
What bothered me was my roommates' visitors (though I rarely had a roommate.)
I would leave it in my room fairly confidently when I went to the gym, etc.
.
I recommend buying a laptop cable -- like a bicycle cable. It wouldn't stop a good thief, but it'll stop
the "ooohhh shiny" casual thief.
.
Without mine, I would have been lost and alone. Having it with me allowed me to keep in touch with
you friends in The Lounge. And I can't tell you how incredibly helpful and supportive that was.

I will probably bring a new Laptop and strap it to my waist if I have to. There maybe a problem though, and I will have to check with the hospital. They have some kind of device that blocks some cell phones, not sure the reason. I assume if it does that it may block laptops as well. I have plenty of time to find this out.. I don't want to bring it only to find out..i have to stash it in a locker some where cause the reception was blocked.

I guess we shall see... I will check before I buy one... maybe that is the best route.

I had laparoscopic surgery didn't think it would be a problem. "bandaid surgery" - how bad could the stitches be?

But they did one tiny incision below my belly button, one in my belly button, and one other - the result was that I couldn't find a resting place for sweats at any height.

I didn't even own a dress, I am SO not a dress person. But I went out afterwards to salvation army and got a few to get me through til the stitches were gone - and getting in and out of my slacks repeatedly trying them on in the dressing room after the surgery made me regret not having at least one before.

Ugly yellow socks with the rubber pads on the bottom. The Surgery is set for March but the date has yet to be determined. I was told I will be going though a battery of various meet ups with different personnel between now and than, so I want to ask them about bringing a lap top. I know I can never use my cellphone while I am in there, so I will have to ask. The thing was, when I was last in the hospital, it was an entirely different Hospital, and there were no cellphone restrictions. This hospital seems to have devices for disrupting cellphone signals from reaching the phones.

Of course some newer phones don't seem to have that problem. Maybe my laptop will be the same, IF I CAN HAVE ONE. I will not be having any family there (Parents are scheduled to be in Japan in March) so having a laptop may be my only contact to the outside world. Of course, if the lap top fails... meh. SOOL.
