A head's up to our birders...

The Snowy Owl is making a southern migration from the Arctic Circle as part of a four-year cycle and are now showing up in large portions of the northern United States.

In our area, there are six that have taken up residence in the Braddock Bay area, witnessed by several local birders and researchers from Cornell.

There are also reports from Buffalo, Syracuse and an isolated report from New Jersey that the Snowy Owls have begun their migration in search of food for the season.

I've planned a trip for tomorrow afternoon to head out in search of these creatures for my wife and I. I've seen one years ago by fluke, so I'm ecstatic at the chance to see several Snowy's in one relative area.

Good luck! Happy birding!

Be well...
