The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWindmill Cookies made by Archway. They're kind of like gingerbread of spice cookies. But it is
getting difficult to find them. Bilo used to have them, but I've looked at various Bilos and haven't seen them
lately.
I hate it when a store stops carrying something I really love.....

Damn, I hate it that hardly anyone fills out their gender, home town or state on DU3.

(47,675 posts)Also, make sure you speak to the manager at every place and ask where the "Windmill Cookies" are currently located (as if you're clueless). When he/she says they don't carry them anymore, THEN make the booboo face and plead with them to bring them back. There's only one store in the entire area that ever has WheataBix and they sell out almost immediately. Why they don't carry them more often is a mystery.

(115,802 posts)I used to love those cookies but haven't seen them in years. My totally favorite cookie now is the Biscoff sort of gingersnappish thing they give you on Delta Air Lines. Those are wonderful with coffee.

(2,568 posts)They are in NY-NJ metro area, I am not sure if they were Archway but I did see them there. They had slivers of almonds in them as well as I remember. God they were so good with tea.

(32,086 posts)I have seen windmill cookies at Dollar Tree. Not Archway, but I doubt they taste any different. At Christmastime, Aldi has various flavors of Spekulatius cookies. I think the almond-flavored ones may be like the windmills. It's possible they carry actual windmills, but I don't buy cookies all that often, so I can't say for sure. A number of their cookies are imported from Germany, especially around the holidays, and those I have had are quite good.

(11,304 posts)seasonal. Try that I bet you'll find what you are looking for. I know when I lived in Germany I was able to buy tomatoe sauce in a tube (like toothpaste). You can't find it here at least in the south. I found it on line and ordered it. Wonderful when you need just a tablespoon.

I do like the gingerbread-almond goodness of those cookies... good luck in your search if all else fails you could just buy 'em online
