I emphasized and became SCARED....so I quit trying to emphasize...because it changes nothing..but creates fear in me...

I have often wondered "what would it feel like to"..then decided I don't want to know...because it would cause me pain...

Maybe there should be an emphasizer list of things we should care about..and other that just produce fear?

I recommend this to my therapy patients sometimes. I believe it's one of the biggest problems people have to work on. All of us, to one extent or another.
