My cat hates winter in Alabama as much as I do which he why he is acting so crazy.

My normally sweet docile cat has been a little SOB lately. He has licked trenches in butter I've set out to soften for baking, wants in and out every ten minutes and jumped on my kitchen counter constantly. I'd rather he'd just go back to bringing dead mutilated creatures in the dog door. I'm ready to have him taxidermed.

Winter here is cold, damp, grey and depressing. When it does snow, you get stranded in your house because the streets get closed. Everyone gets cranky and has cabin fever and we're always cold unless you live in Mobile which is 6 hours away from HSV.

I have one who insists on jumping on the counter because she prefers her water from a tap.

Naturally, she wins.

Cause there was only 1 inch left. He can claw away the wrapper or eat and spit out.

Never underestimate intelligence of a cat. NEVER!!!

Otherwise they will always lick trenches in the butter.

My cats love winter in Minnesota because it means the radiators are really warm. I put blankets on top of them so the cats can sleep there, and they really like that. They are indoor cats anyhow, but they don't like snow so they don't even ask to go out.

Driving me bonkers.
I think they keep expecting I will open the summer door sooner or later.
They demand to go out then want in 5 minutes later, all day long.
In and out, in and out.
Not until late evening, when the temps drop below 40, do they knock it off and go to bed.
Then the youngest cat wants OUT again at 6:30 am.
And there no ignoring him, he gets very rambunctious till I let him out.

Summertime, they come in, eat, run back outside all day and all night, if I let them.

the dog, of course, prefers the house, on a carpet. Smart doggie.

I spent a winter near Huntsville....damn right it is cold and depressing and grey.
Lately it has been the same, maybe a few more days of sun, but still cold, and we are in the "sub-tropical" part of Ala.
