The annual Christmas trek from sunny, warm coastal Alabama to near Boston, MA.
Picked up half a dozen audio books from our great small town library.
FREE!
Normally you can check them out for two weeks.
"I need three weeks. Road trip."
"No problem. Give me a date when you'll be back."
"Probably the fourth."
"I'll give you the sixth. If you have a problem just email or call and I'll extend it."
I love our library.

And they don't even get an attitude if you don't/won't/can't come in - ours will bring books right to our door. For free.
If I hadda won any of that 600Million$ jackpot you can bet my library would have got some stuff.
Have a great road trip!

(54,256 posts)We enjoy getting together and discussing books AND raising funds for our library.
The FOL brings in about $7000 a year at our used books sale.
All funds go to the library.

(10,952 posts)FYI if you do. Check out the program audiobook. It is a fairly inexpensive program that allows you to convert books on CD to an audiobook format.

(6,336 posts)I leave for the airport in less than an hour to get a flight from Raleigh-Durham to Boston and then getting an Amtrak up to Maine. I arrive at the train station at 8:20 and a few hours of driving from there (my dad's picking me up).
Wish things were easier this holiday, but given the purpose of my trip (to bury my grandfather) travel is the least of my concerns.
I love our library too-- checked out 3 Kindle books for the airport/plane/train station/train.

Librarians are the best! If I have a next life, I want to come back as a librarian!
