one of the stupidist birds on the planet, IMO. Pretty though, and has such a sweet kitty for a housemate.

actively enrage cats by dive bombing and otherwise deliberately annoying them...

And they don't just dive bomb cats either.

I have a tree in my yard that has some kind of berry on it. Every five or so years, a pair of mocking birds will decide that the tree is THEIRS.

Despite not having a nest in that tree or any of the other trees in our yard (maybe they are across the road), they guard that tree chasing off all other species of birds in the area and than start warning off all comers -- my cats, my dog, and the two-legged members of my family as we attempt to enter our cars or the house. And they commence making my cats' lives pure H-E-double L.

Studies have shown that mocking birds remember people and sometimes take a disliking to individuals and will dive bomb those people too. It isn't all just about "protecting their young as many people believe.

When I was a kid and living in South Florida, they would always built a nest in the front part of the house's roof. If I went out the front door, they would attack.

…then perhaps all animals are dumb. But cats live in fear of mocking birds.

it's a ring necked dove.

I'm pretty fair at imitating a Mourning Dove call. I'll sit in my back yard "talking" to them until either they get bored and fly away or I get bored and go inside.
