We reckon he's about 15 now. Still a cute little feller. We don't know his exact age. My wife adopted him from a shelter. He was missing a leg and part of his teeth when she got him. He later went mostly deaf (he can still hear loud noises and responds to loud claps) and we had to have one of his eyes removed last year due to a problem with a cataract.

Older, disabled dogs are rarely adopted.
I know he loves you both!

(10,418 posts)Scratch and dent sale you might say. She adopted a middle aged one-eyed cat at the same time she got our dog. The cat had been in the shelter for 7 years! It was a no-kill deal, obviously. We had to put the cat to sleep shortly after we got married. He had terminal cancer.

That 2 (actually 3)-for-one happened to us too. We went for a kitten... and got two litter-mates. Plus the man working there gave us a really cute, but neglected Yorkie. We had a lot of medical expenses with the Yorkie, but we had him for 8 years. He was very lively and a good little buddy. He used to "herd" our Golden Retriever and keep him from leaving the yard! He was "da Boss"!
