I'll be undergoing hip replacement surgery....

Towards the end of January/ first week of February....right hip first, followed by recovery, then the left sometime in April. Has Anyone here undergone this procedure? I've heard a lot of good stories this far, so I'm Pretty optimistic. I've been dealing with hip arthritis now for 5 years...I'm looking forward to walking, climbing, clipping my own toenails, bending over to pet my dog.....etc , etc.....

There is a BIG difference in recovery time related to how the hip
is replaced. I had anterior approach--no muscles cut--up walking
the next day. No restrictions (leg crossing, etc) off walker/cane
in about 3 weeks. VERY important to do your exercises after
surgery.

Good luck!

He's using a plastic lined metal implant on the socket and a titanium ball/spike that is perforated to allow the bone to fuse with the metal...vrs glueing it in....takes a bit longer to heal but the fusing makes it more reliable as wear and tear goes. If it cuts the pain I live with in half I'll be a very happy soul!
