Ask me anything. I just barely missed hitting a stuffed chair in the middle of my lane tonight.

I was in the slow lane of a multi lane highway and there it was - a huge stuffed chair taking up about half of the lane. Fortunately I was able to squeeze by on the outside without encroaching on the other traffic lane too much.

accident, I am sure. They seem to think if there is an object on the road you should always be able to avoid hitting it.

It fell off of a truck, along with some sort of plastic pallet. I elected to drive over it rather than jam the brakes or swerve. I could tell the box was empty, and the way it landed (on its side) I just figured it would collapse and I would drive over it.

That didn't happen. I wound up pushing it for a couple of hundred yards down the highway before it finally caught the wind and flew over my roof.

Except there was only 1 recliner and no stationary bikes.
Also the chair was turned sideways in the lane and closer to the outside line.

a blonde in a red dress you're probably Ok. Of course, if you were unable to see her because of crash avoidance how do you know the chair wasn't put there to distract you from a glitch in the matrix?

off the back of his truck onto the freeway and stuck under the front
of my bumper (air dam?) nice and snug.

As I exited the freeway on to the up ramp I started to drive small tight swerves
to break it loose.
Sure enough just as I reached near the top of the off ramp it popped
out and then right under the front of the car behind me.

I could hear it scraping on the road and the poor young lady looked so
surprised and frightened.

Darn those white buckets!!!

I used to travel the Dan Ryan I94 on Chicago's south side.

I've dodged:

Kithchen chairs.

Tables.

A camper top (off a pick up)

....and a full vinyl roof. Shell and all. Probably from a Buick or Cadillac.

Old International 3/4 ton truck. We had the boat resting on the cab. It was a very heavy boat so we assumed it wasn't going anywhere. Wrong. As we were cruising down a 2 lane highway at 50 mph the front of the boat rose up in the air and off the back it went. It kind of rolled halfway onto the shoulder. Fortunately no one hit it and the boat was none the worse for the wear. No harm no foul. We put it back on the truck, tied the front of the boat to the front bumper this time and off we went. We were 16. Just another day.
