(17,216 posts)... was an exclamation point or two when I said that Death took one look at him and fled screaming. More substantively, though, is the 4th response in this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018473876
Which happens to be the only other time MFM ever addressed me personally.

That was my 1st and only interaction with him. He's a legend around here and naming the Lounge after him is a fitting tribute.

I suggest ignoring ********* question following yours in The Lounge.
I believe **** just trying to distract folks from your statement about violence
and I KNOW **** trying to bait you.
.
Just let it sit there all sad and pathetic like it deserves.
.
And there may very well be a tagteaming or swarming on you about it from
her and her trolling baiting buddies.
.
You made an excellent point. Now let them fester in tneir own bitter juices.
.
They're trying the same thing with me where they're trying to paint me
as a racist because I laughed at THEM.

I do a lot of encouraging behind the scenes... and the occasional "WTF, dude?" when I don't want to
spank or embarrass someone publicly. THAT gets PM's going sometimes.

(18,497 posts)I sewed and send him a crushed velvet heart to hold for those coughing tortures.
Some time later another DUer posted about their young son needing heart surgery.
MFM ended up sending the heart to the little boy.

Hi, alphafemale!
.
I've been in touch with BenEzra about his son -- the surgery
is Friday (I believe) and he should have a room number for me
to mail it off to by the weekend.
.
If it's OK with you, I'm going to tell his boy that it's from
you and me and everyone in The Lounge -- along with all their
love and prayers and vibes and good wishes.

Sometimes re-gifting is a WONDERFUL thing -- it says a lot
about you for thinking of it,

I'll keep you updated.

(20,776 posts)btw regarding his hospital picture...I was in a bed like that...and the one annoying thing is that the bed constantly adjusts to your body when you move. Its really annoying to be waken up by that constant moving .. or a Nurse in the middle of the night, who wants to take your blood pressure, and or a vile of your blood for testing. I hated being in the hospital! Its too bad I have to go back in March for surgery... it will probably end up being a week.. its gonna be hell for me, especially if I can't bring a laptop with me.

(46,758 posts)This is what he said:
I ran into a heavily-ensconced good ol' boy network at our wonderful, (supposedly) very progressive
community radio station. They were turning it more and more towards a commercial model and I think
some of them were finding ways to skim money off the top. They had had NO type of community
oversight when I started showing up for their monthly board meetings. I immediately held their feet
to the fire about a number of things. It was just me for 6 months to a year before I got others interested.
.
I've always had attitude. Once, when it was my turn to speak for a whole 5 minutes during their required
"community input" period (during which the Board Chairman would actually pretend to nap through-- HE
was a real asshole) I told them that it was a little unfair -- all of them facing off with me on the opposing
side -- and I offered them the opportunity to "go get some more guys" if they thought that would make
them more comfortable.
.
Some of them actually laughed, which "woke up" the Chairman, who glared them back to silence,
