Will Brody ever forgive us? Mainly an update on Brody.

Because the late hour of the surgery on Brody and the storm that was coming in Yesterday they basically released Brody to us as he was waking up. So that explained his actions yesterday evening and last night.

Now this morning Brody came out of the cage perfect balance and able to walk straight. we tried to give him some water but he wouldn't drink. My wife though wanted to get some pain meds into him because he was shaking a little and moving his head slowly. So wife got a can a soft food and his small plate she placed a teaspoon of food in the plate and and slipped the pain pills into the food. He took the pills and took about 10 mins to eat all the teaspoon worth of food. We didn't give him anymore worried about him throwing up. He didn't.

he than went to the litter box that we went into the bedroom for him and laid down in a bed we made for a while.

My goal was to leave my wife alone with him as much as possible but she called me in to ask me to get her something. Brody went out into the hallway than into the spare room and basically stayed in the spear room close laying there most of the day. He did eat again when my wife gave him more food laced with his anti-biotic. basically 1/2 of food. but Brody kept staying in the closet.

I didn't know if I should close the closet door and force him to be out or let him come out on his own. My wife was concern that the back bedroom isn't as warm as our room and ask me to get him. I placed Brody on the bed and he basically ran under the bed.

He has eaten but we have not seen him drink anything today.

Will he eventually forgive us or will his relationship especially with my wife be changed forever and how do we start mending the trust we have destroyed in a sense?

4. We will do that. We are worried the other two cats may bother him when we go to sleep but this

after noon nothing seemed to happen.

My wife place Half a can of food in his bowl and we will put fresh water down and ignore him. I think my wife is worried about not being able to check on the stitches. Almost all the fur from his neck was remove well a large part from his right side and the there are a lot of stitches. so she is worried about them coming out easily BUT she never had stitches in her life. She had staples after the Hernia operation.

I tried to tell her he won't pop them that easily but she's worried. I think I am seeing what she would be like IF we had kids.

2. I think it's very likely that once he feels better he will "forgive" you.

In fact, in his little cat brain there's nothing to forgive - he doesn't blame you; he just doesn't feel very good and wants to be left alone. I've had cats act like they were mad at me but it didn't last - for example, when I went to the vet to pick up my cat after he was neutered he stuck his head under the arm of the tech who was holding him and refused to look at me. But once he was home and had rested for a few hours he was back to normal. Cats don't look at things like we do.

I bet he'll be back to his old self by tomorrow - just leave him alone and let him sleep.

3. Treats will do wonders, BUT only after he feels better.

Agree with warrior1; let him rest, and put the water close by.

predators, when they are sick, or injured, they hide so bigger predators will not find them in their sub par state. Brody is just trying to stay out of sight until he feels better. He'll be his old self in a day or two.

of the anesthesia and just needs to sleep it off. He should feel better soon and he won't hold anything against you.

eaten or drank anything today. he is laying there just staring for the most part we gave him some pains mid afternoon hoping that was the reason he hasn't eaten but that didn't work.

If he isn't eating tomorrow afternoon we are calling the vet

was excited BUT didn't touch the juice.

He did eat soft food yesterday that's how my wife was able to get his meds in him yesterday by hiding it in the soft food but today we had to use the pill gun and that seems to have made things hard for everyone today.

He hasn't touch any water that we know of yesterday or today.

are we just over panic or is there cause for concern?
