Best months for auroras are March and October. Best weather months are generally May and September, although, like everywhere else, our weather is becoming more and more unpredictable. But even when it's raining, it's beautiful.

and it was on her "bucket list", but last year, we were up in Mackinaw, MI camping and saw them. It was awesome.

Especially the very active, whole-sky displays. I've only experienced that a couple of times, but it was awesome. It's like an electrical charge, with an almost audible crackling. We sit out in the country in our truck at 0 degrees for hours waiting to see them, but they are so elusive. That's why I was trying to give the upper Midwest folks a heads up.
