Still, I was going by comparison. I, 5'7 who no matter how much push ups or other various chest exercises can't seem to grow a decent sized pecs. I managed to get a four pack, but no, I am just nowhere as muscular as that guy.

So, I am going by "relative" burliness.

to grow muscular. Well, I did lift weights and was a high school football player and I was a wrestler in high school and also in college. The funny thing is, once an atlete stops those strenuous workouts it's easy to put on the pounds. If I dropped 20lbs. I might find that 6 pack.

Sadly, she was by far the most not beautiful soap star I had *ever* seen. She did have my gigantic forehead, but her nose wasn't as huge as mine. All in all, I could see the resemblance and I fared well in the comparison.

Wed Feb 26, 2014, 06:18 AM
Feb 2014

I used to be told that I looked like Shirley MacLaine, but as she's much older than me, I was never mistaken for her in real time.

Some of the WW2 generation used to say that I looked like Veronica Lake, but I think that had as much to do with my hair, plus stature or posture or personality or whatever-that-whole-thing-is, as just facial resemblance.

My late husband looked a lot like Burt Reynolds only taller and much more muscular. And I have a family member who could be Philip Seymour Hoffman's double.

My ex looks like Robert Redford, only again a lot bigger and more muscular -- he was briefly an Orioles pitcher.

And another ex-SO was a dead ringer for Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown back in their younger days, and is as good a guitar player, and in the same style. Except the SO has remained very skinny in his old age, whereas Kim put on a couple of pounds.

Wed Feb 26, 2014, 10:41 AM

of celebrities I've been likened to include (depending on my hair color and age):

Bridgette Bardot

Sally Field

Geena Davis

A young Valerie Perrine

That blonde girl on "Third Rock" (as I heard someone remark to a guy she was with in a store after they had passed me)

Patty Duke (don't even know how I resemble her!)

Lucy in the sky with diamonds (a guy once told me I had kaleidoscope eyes...they are multi-colored)

And Britt Ekland. I would say out of all of those, this is the closest to how I looked back in the 70s.

My father bore an eerie resemblance to Bob Crane. People were always coming up to him in restaurants and asking him if he was Bob Crane. The illusion was enhanced because his name was Bob, and people would overhear my mother calling him that.

It even happened a couple of times in the years after Bob Crane was murdered. Weird.

To the point I just refer to it as being "Willie'd".

Once, when we went Alb. to see Melissa Etheridge at Popejoy Hall, before the show we walked around the lobby and took in all the sights. Well after some of that I had worked up a thirst and stopped by the beer kiosk. The lady serving mentioned that some guy had told her Willie Nelson was in the audience walking around the place.

It's quite fun actually.

Happens to me all the time.

"Hey, I know you?" ... or ... "Hey, do you have a brother named Bob?" Or ... "hey, are you Mary's husband?"

They never actually know me, I don't have a brother, and they never know my wife.

I'm a fairly generic looking white guy. About 6 foot tall, brown hair, somewhere between 30 and 50 (depending on how much sleep I've had).

Go to just about any mall in the United States and you'll pass a guy that looks just like me about every 50 feet or so.

The great part about this is that, just by changing my clothes, I look natural in almost any environment. And people almost immediately think they know me.

knew me. My mother and sister have always thought it was hilarious. Its happened in front of them so many times. And its never one of them that the person thinks they know, always me.

I was back in Philly visiting my sister this summer, and we went to the store, after 10 minutes, woman walks up and starts talking to me ... sure she knows me ... thought she meet me a week earlier. Which was impossible because I was in NC a week earlier. My sister could not stop laughing. She couldn't believe that it still happens.

The other thing I find, these folks all assume that I hold all the same positions that they hold. Then they start talking like we're old friends. Telling me some of the wildest, often inappropriate, stories and slurs you can imagine. The conversations are very "interesting".

I am, average Joe.
