strange that he would try to rob a place so full of people. But they were lucky he didn't decide to just shoot up the place.

took him to the police.

Even tough security workers aren't allowed to carry them when on Dutch territory.

While it's always possible the wannabe-robber got a pistol from outside the country,
if he was local, the chances are great that his weapon wasn't a real one.

I know some guys who work for the federal police there, and do odd security jobs when
off duty for extra money (allowed there). They never carry their weapons when doing the
off-duty work, since getting caught with them off duty would mean losing their jobs at
best, and jail time at worst. Of course, when you see how tough some of these guys are
(mostly black belts in 3 kinds of martial arts), you don't wonder why they don't seem nervous
when they don't have firearms on them.

It's for sure that none of the guys I know were in that bar that night. First off, the guy
got 2 kilometers before he was caught, and second, he was apparently still able to walk
when the cops got him.
