warm but is isolated (you have to take a roundabout road to get there). There is a warmer body of water around the back. But I'd go to Hirtles with my dad and that was his favourite thing. He always said it didn't feel like summer without a dip in the Ocean. And he is quite right. It has been a few years since I've swum in the ocean and I miss it. The other good thing about Hirtles? They allow people to buy a board for the boardwalk and print there name on it. My dad bought one for my grandmother and grandfather, and one for my aunt Jean after they all had died. It is quite poignant because though Granny and Aunt Jean spent most of their lives in Ontario - as kids they grew up in Lunenburg and likely spent time at that very beach. We have pictures of them at a beach in full white victorian garb. Some day I may go back there. For now Hirtle's beach is in my dreams.... and day dreaming counts as living it too.
