And the one in the original picture did have a sizable wanger.

It's never easy to lose a pet, but that's part of the bargain. I had to spend two years without a dog in my life and it was a horrible thing to me. I'd had two dogs in my life (both lived to 16) and suddenly found myself in a rental unit that only allowed cats (shortly after putting the second down). Dogs of any breed are wonderful.

But it still looks like a sheep. That said, my second dog looked like a mop with legs. Her mom was a cockapoo and her dad was probably a beagle (she got out one night). I called her a "cockapeagle". My wife was the first female human she accepted. She'd chew shoes and panties of the other ones, but she liked my wife. She still looked like a mop.

'Unusual' would be a better term, imo.
NO SHED, NO ALLERGIES!
Haven't lived with a dog since before Toni passed, as I'd left the house before that occurred. Now one of my daughters has 3, different breeds, plus a cat and a 'gold'fish, and adopted a box-turtle from roadside recently, but she put him back into the wild, after feeding him well. My other daughter's waiting to buy a house, looking forward to adopting a dog and having a baby!

*********NOTE: For the ‘12 Mittens duration, I am submitting this angry cocker spaniel for use as the representative of all dogs. This pic was in the local paper's Sunday available-for-adoption a few years ago. He was taken by the time I called. He is thoroughly pissed, not, I hope, the reason he ended up in the shelter, but rather for being subjected to the indignity of doggie jail.

I love a terrier but am totally out of my league with them these days, i.e. a middle aged, out of shape city dweller. I've owned an Airedale and a Jack Russell (deaf to boot, which was quite the experience and, sadly, ended badly when a dogsitter lost him) and love the spirit and spunk and perpetual toddlerhood. Nowadays I stick to Cavaliers, only somewhat against my better judgment.

That dog at Westminster doesn't remotely resemble anything I know as a Pekingese. The ones I have know were FAR less hairy, and their faces were not pushed in anywhere near that much.

If you Google, click on images, then type Bedington terrier you'll see a ton of these amazing looking dogs. They've apparently been around since 1782. After I saw a picture of them for the firs time in my life I really got interested and did some research. They are quite long lived apparently. Oldest on record lived to be 18 years old!! They look very different without their cosmetic cuts.

Unfortunately, ours was not very long-lived.
Cousin-in-law bred them, at least one litter, my folks got one. About 10 years ago, we found a breeder in DC area; wanted one cause daughters wanted one, they're so fine and they don't shed, and are non-allergenic!
