I just saw Million Dollar Arm. That was pretty good.

Yes, you can practically set your watch by all the sports movie cliches (underdog surprises jaded scout? check. Small town kids unprepared for life in the fast lane? check. A training montage with inspirational music? check. Persistence in the face of doubt and adversity? check. Though there's a really neat twist on the inevitable inspirational coach speech in the next to last scene.)

I'm sure part of why I like it is because it does a really funny take on American expats' frustrations in India ("Why are they honking? What's with the honking?" "We love to honk, sir. I don't know why. It does no good.&quot , but the cast is solid and delivers well, John Hamm and Alan Arkin in particular. Aasif Mandvi is really great (and I love how they played him as an Indian American with no knowledge of India). There's even a solid small performance by Allyn Rachel, the actress who was in about 75% of commericals a few years ago ("That's too small to be a puppy!", etc. -- I only noticed her because I like her stand-up). And the two kids are great.

It's a sappy, cliche Disney movie and you can see every single thing coming (except maybe that twist I mentioned, though it's a small point), but it's a really good time, and I recommend it if you haven't seen it.
