The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWell, I'm having fun with my left shoulder...
NOT.
This is the one that got operated on in January. I had a total shoulder replacement.
A few weeks ago, I noticed that something was slipping inside it. Hard to describe. It was infrequent so I ignored it.
Until today...
I'm nearly at the end of my physical therapy, and today I told my PT lady about this slippage. We actually got my shoulder to misbehave, miracle of miracles.
She called my doctor, and he wants to see me tomorrow. I got an appointment for early tomorrow afternoon...
It doesn't really hurt--it just moves in and out as though it were getting ready to dislocate. But it hasn't done that.
Damn, I hope this doesn't mean more surgery to fix it.
I could use a few vibes if you have any to spare....

(53,339 posts)It would suck for you to have to have surgery on the same shoulder again after going through that ordeal once. I hope that won't be necessary.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,637 posts)It really has me worried.
Time will tell, of course...
Thanks for your presence and vibes here tonight, sweetie...

(2,682 posts)With summer nearly upon us, I'd hate for you to have anything wrong with your shoulder. So, here's hoping you will be out in the sunshine doing whatever it is you like to do without worries about your shoulder.
CaliforniaPeggy

(45,358 posts)My left shoulder blade/back is hurting like crazy, which apparently is a common symptom of QUITTING SMOKING! So I'm fine with it.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,637 posts)I wish I could blame my symptoms on that! Alas, I never smoked.
Thanks for the vibes!

(12,154 posts)I hope that tomorrow your doctor gives your misbehaving shoulder a good talking to, and that it listens and knocks it off.
I'll be thinking of you and hoping all turns out well.

(112,250 posts)At least it misbehaved while you were at the therapist so that somebody can give an objective report as to your condition. However, anything mechanical is subject to failure. Although I expect that it is against your nature, you might want to get in contact with a personal injury attorney and get a second evaluation from an orthopedist after you visit with your first doctor.
I'm sorry that you are dealing with any pain, but you're resilient and you'll get through it. Best of luck to you and please keep your DU family informed because we would miss seeing you here if you have to take a break.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,637 posts)I do not plan any visits to a personal injury lawyer, and if my doctor wants a second opinion, I know just where to get it. So, not to worry. I know full well mechanical things can and sometimes do go wrong. It's just the way the cookie crumbles.
I'm not really in any pain, thank goodness. It's just that certain motions cause the shoulder to feel odd. I'm being careful till we know more.
And you KNOW I'll update when I can.

(54,405 posts)It's one that was done inside you surgically.
Here's really REALLY hoping you don't need this, and if you do anyway, that they GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME!
Enough is enough already!

(149,637 posts)Luckily, my shoulder is out there, so to speak!
I echo your sentiments 100%!
Thanks for your good thoughts...
