oh fuck. my asshole neighbors are setting off explosive fireworks. can't see anything, just

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Jake is hiding in his crate. These are the assholes who tried to run my dogs down in my own driveway. Still, I must remember their bad karma bit them back hard when their favorite lab, Homer, was killed in the road last year. Assholes.

We started using it a year ago, it really helps our guy.

The night of July THIRD our neighbor 2 houses down set off a massive amount of fireworks.
At 11:00 at night.
Which is not legal here.
And he is a cop.
With a really nasty attitude and much too much testosterone.
and no consideration for the neighbors trying to sleep on either side of him.

Sigh.
I still gave the poor dog his Valium, altho it takes 20 minutes to hit, and most of the noise was over by then.
And comforted myself with Mr. Dixie's estimation that the A-hole had blown bout 100.00 worth of noise into the air.

he wasn't there. He also wasn't in the corner behind the dining room table or in the corner behind the bird cages. He wasn't on the living room couch.

I found him by himself in the attic. We slept up there when I first got him as a tiny puppy, so that is his major comfort hiding place.

He's in bed with Luna and me now. The BOOMS seem to have stopped. Hopefully for the night, if not for good.

And it seemed to make her not care that they were going off
in our neighborhood.

They continued off and on until 11.

He stayed with Luna and me, but every time they went off he would jump to his feet and look like he was going to go hide. But his hips bother him enough that jumping down out of bed is getting harder. So then he would pretend he was just getting comfortable, and lie back down snuggling closer with Luna. I could feel him trembling under my hand though, so he didn't fool me.

The idiots who shoot off completely illegal fireworks near my house typically continue until about 2 in the morning.

They seem to have no concept of "some of us have to go to work in the morning".

local villages began putting in ordinances.

If they hadn't stopped at 11pm, I would have called the police.

Luckily, too, the animal control officer lives right down the road from me and probably would have put in his own call.

2 years ago, the assholes on the other side of me started setting off nightly fireworks. Then they got cute, and one evening started shooting a gun. A lot of people hunt to eat around here, but there are rules about where and when you can shoot, and within 500 feet of a house or the road is illegal. The cops were in their driveway within 15 minutes, which is pretty good time considering we're rural.

Three-day July 4th fair in a park nearby, so 3 nights of big fireworks. Next-door neighbor had a party with big fireworks, then spent the next two days occasionally popping one off right next to our window. People down the street are STILL lighting firecrackers now & then. I wish they'd just shoot them all off and get it over with. My dog goes berzerk and I have to deal with it.

They are illegal here! But the cops can't do anything unless they're caught in the act, so they don't bother to respond to any complaints.
