Although I live in Thailand, I am in the US to be with my sister who has ALS. I've been in Oregon these past three months and it has been rewarding, but difficult, so I am taking a break to regenerate. As a train freak, I have chosen to take the CA Zephyr into Chicago and spend three days in the city listening to some great Blues. I'm booked into a hostel and should be able to get some input there, but I would love to have suggestions from locals. Thanks, Cat

(2,760 posts)Right now I am visiting a friend in Utah and will pick up the train in the middle of the night in Salt Lake City. After Chicago I will go on to Maine to visit a friend there before I return to Oregon.
That's quite a trip!
