Unfortunately my best friends and I share almost no common ground on movies. You'd swear they adhere to some philistine checklist:

1) New released / big budget / big hype

2) "Everybody's talking about it"

3) Formulaic as fuck. Cliched action hero type with wholesome good guys and swaggering bad ones. Loaded with cheap unearned emotion. USA!! USA!!!
