It was so humid this afternoon that I was sweating pretty much the moment I went outside. Jon Stewart made a reference to the humidity. Even a brief second walking past an open door is a relief.

(5,364 posts)Being a weather nut, I checked a few around the country where my spread out family lives. I noted the dewpoint was 68-69 here, but 73 in the northern exurbs of NYC. I would imagine the "heat island" effect with all that concrete/asphalt in NYC would make it yet more unbearable.

(60,015 posts)finishing photos for the tomato book - you could drink the air! I guess I've become used to it - been spending pretty much 4-5 hours each morning out gardening - amazing how many ruined T shirts I now have!

(30,947 posts)The humidity like that is year 'round, except for a couple months in the winter. I lived down there most of my life. I moved up here to North Georgia and people complain about the humidity in the summer. It is nothing as compared with Florida summers. I have no problem with Georgia summers because the high humidity in Florida is stifling. The only good thing is the sea breezes which relieve it somewhat.
