There's a taco place that's opening in the area this fall. They are quoted in the newspaper as offering "high quality, affordable tacos." Ok, isn't that redundant? Shouldn't tacos BE affordable, like at the absolute most say $2 a pop? Has inflation gotten so bad that this restaurant thinks it can get away with $5 or more for a taco?? Or is just yet another yuppie restaurateur that thinks they can repackage street food as gourmet in order to charge a fortune?

(20,176 posts)No, the term is not redundant. Chipotle, a national chain probably selling more tacos than anybody except Taco Bell, sells 3 high-quality made-to-order-and-specification tacos for between $6-8, depending on the market; tack on a drink and a side of chips & guac--a decent Chipotle lunch costs $10.

(13,447 posts)That San Francisco place listed in the first reply is selling tacos for $4 EACH, which is insane.
I can only imagine what individual tacos at this new place are going to cost if they have to tell us they're affordable.
