If you're not familiar with Joan Armatrading, this album gives you an entrée into one of the finest if least known female talents of the last 50 years. You can hear her influence up and down the radio dial, and lucky for music fans everywhere, she's still recording, performing, and making great music.
This 1976 release was Joan's third studio album, and she is backed by a solid group of musicians (fans will recognize names from Faces and Fairport Convention) while the production was handled by the great Glyn Johns. Armatrading moves from ballad to soul to rock and back again with the ease and assurance of a far more experienced artist and the album is testament to her talent. Love and Affection and Somebody Who Loves You should be on every wedding DJ's playlist, and the other eight tracks exercise their own memorable magic.
