OK, I'm for Mr. Wang at Princeton, and holding breath due to the length of time between now and elections. BUT important elections THIS november.

At times like this I WISH I liked to drink more than I do.

(5,810 posts)Like you, I heard what Rachel was saying tonight and was just kind of sickened by what I heard her say. Then she mentioned Mr. Wang and I got a little bit encouraged not to abandon all hope. We are so screwed if the Repubs gain the Senate and I just can't even deal with the thought, much less the reality of that happening. I have a feeling it's going to be a long season until election day. I remember crying like a baby in 2004 when Shrub got re-elected. I had gotten really involved in the local Democratic group and attended a number of rallies, met Elizabeth Edwards and saw John speak at the airport here in Pensacola the night before the election. I was fully expecting Kerry to win that election and when he didn't I almost lost complete faith in the "system". I had to talk myself into getting interested in the 2008 election and voted enthusiastically for Obama. I had no idea what we were in store for after the Republicans met in secret and planned how they would deal with the newly elected President.
So I hope against all hope that Mr. Wang is right. I told my husband if we lose the Senate in November I would seriously consider leaving this country, but my problem is three grandchildren that I adore and wouldn't want to leave. Plus, I am not sure where I'd go. But I have come to really distrust our current electoral system and know what the Republicans have done to set things up so they can win...no matter what. If we never worried before about the outcome of an election, we SHOULD be worried this time and do everything we can to get our fellow Democrats OUT TO VOTE.

(130,974 posts)and I did cry @ DC primary for '04 when Wes Clark failed. And I so recall election night, after bush's rove pushed the button and 'fixed' the numbers. Tried to explain to daughter after we'd spoken, I from the office, what had happened, but of course I couldn't.
I also would leave the country but for grandbabies. Repugs and foolish monied interests are messing up the entire world's economy. Watch China (by default) try to set it straight.

And this year, like 2 years ago, there is no Democrat running for the House in my district
