(5,946 posts)We are not allowed to park in the street when snows, but when I lived in Weehawken, we parked on the street and I would lookout the window amazed that no care were hit by the snow plows, I got a green car so it could be seen. But also so it could be seen on the road as opposed to a black car at night. I wanted a red car but my husband was afraid he would get more tickets.
Yes to put something on your car window if you think it is going to snow like a handkerchief in the drivers side window

(4,482 posts)Last night, a friend told me a horror story about her neighbor's white car and the snow plow. Last winter, my old silver car was buried up to the hood and windows; and heavier snow is predicted for the Northeast this winter.

(5,946 posts)Last year I was stuck at home for 6 weeks with my car snowed in! I don't think I can do it again Time to call for snow shoveling help. See, now if you whould help shoveling, you could park in my drive way, it has enough room for a lot of cars being 120 feet long.

(28,394 posts)I love a heavy snowfall. We haven't had one like that in a few years.

My fingers are crossed for no snow until after Thanksgiving.

(28,394 posts)Annual Weather Summary: November 2014 to October 2015 (western PA, Ohio, etc.):
Winter will be much colder than normal, with the coldest periods in mid-December, from late December through early January, and in mid- and late January. Precipitation will be slightly below normal, but snowfall will be above normal, with the snowiest periods in early to mid-November, mid- and late December, late January, early February, and early to mid-March.
Of course, they predicted a mild and late winter last year.

(72,300 posts)Over the eastern third of the country, we are expecting an active storm track with a number of storms delivering copious amounts of snow and rain. Near-normal precipitation is expected for the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest States, and Northern Plains, while below-normal precipitation values are forecast for the Southwest States as well as the Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes. The Central and Southern Plains are expected to receive above-average precipitation.
We are red flagging the first 10 days of January and the first week of February along the Atlantic Seaboard for active wintry weather featuring bouts of heavy precipitation and strong winds. Another red flag timeframe for widespread wintry conditions is the middle part of March from the nations midsection to the East Coast.
See the Wintery, White, & Wet ... that's me.

(25,816 posts)I knew a guy in Government Camp, where the snow got very deep, that bought an old beater car. He insured it, and parked it on the road. When the snow plow destroyed the car he collected.
