Should I petition Skinner for a new group ? My world has crumbled.
(yes PTSD is a very serious condition, which deserves compassion and much better public funding and research)

(5,909 posts)Why couldn't she just be a female cat? That's what she always looked like to me.

(12,154 posts)just as much a kitty as Mickey Mouse is a mouse. As an article someone linked to on DU a little while ago pointed out, Hello Kitty isn't a cat in the same way Tom in Tom and Jerry is a cat, but Mickey Mouse isn't a mouse in the same way that Jerry is a mouse either. Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse are anthropomorphic kitty and mouse, but they are still a cat and a mouse.

(37,457 posts)Like I told RiffRandell, I think someone at Sanrio goofed. I think pretty much everyone assumed or thought HelloKitty is a cat, I sure did.

(37,457 posts)The Plot Thickens, Adorably: Hello Kitty Actually Is A Cat, Ownership Of Charmmy Is Once Again Very Disturbing
This week the world was rocked by the reveal that Hello Kitty, global icon of cuteness, was not a cat. After being revealed during Sanrios corrections of a museum exhibit celebrating Kittys 40th anniversary, the news quickly went global, shocking the world and causing people to question everything they had ever been taught, abandoning the laws of God and man in order to tear down a society built entirely on lies.
Well, it turns out that the hours we spent laying on the floor questioning our own existence mightve been a little premature. Following up on that initial correction, Kotaku got in touch with Sanrios Tokyo headquarters, whereupon they were informed that Its going too far to say that Hello Kitty is not a cat. Hello Kitty is the personification of a cat.
So.. that should clear everything up. Except for the part where Kitty definitely still owns a cat of her own, I mean. Thats still weird as all heck.
Kotaku went on to offer this specific clarification, just in case anything was lost in the translation:

(30,745 posts)Look at the differences between Pluto and Goofy. Why is Goofy so human and Pluto so doggy?
We need to take a leap of faith.

What also seemed odd to me as I read about the adventures of Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck in comic books in the '60s was that there was no mother figure in Duckburg except for a Ma Barker-type mother who was the ringleader of the notorious Beagle Boys gang
