no doubt some Lounge math wizard could tell us how each ball is timed to get that effect and so they don't all crash in th middle.

split the lines and split the timing by half of the time before.

I could be wrong but, that is how I would do it.

The balls are moving in a straight line.

However they are not moving at a constant velocity. They accelerate and decelerate as a function of sine.
