So I'm here, trying to get my Mom out of the shitty nursing home she's in, and back to a nursing home in Maine. Though due to the storm, I'm trapped in effing Woburn. Traffic web cams on I95 in Maine shows some serious shitty road conditions. I had planned on leaving yesterday before the storm, but Mom asked me to stay another night. Bad plan. Now I'm stuck here for a third night.
seriously missing my hubby and child.

(47,675 posts)I picked up the WOO-bin translation from the receptionist - she grew up there. I never acquired the accent myself and still have my Merlin Bal'mer accent. I also worked in Andover. Similar accent, but different enough you can tell. Both were quite different from where I lived in NH. And my wife still has her NW PA accent, although I did FINALLY get her to start using the infinitive in a sentence.

hey, at my hotel bar tonight there is karaoke...I think that's all this place has going on. I may find better entertainment by poking my own eye out.

(9,902 posts)though I am tempted, as the entertainment is lacking, I would prefer not to be arrested

Maine is one of many states that participate in the federal Money Follows the Person program, in which the money used to pay for the nursing home instead goes to pay for community-based supports such as personal caregivers.

(9,902 posts)but the transfer is just transitional. She'll only be there for a couple of days and then we'll be taking care of her at home with hospice. We've remodeled her home while she was gone, and that's where she wants to be
