But it is played on the radio here all the time. Same goes for Fly Like An Eagle and The Joker. I wish the radio stations would play some of his earlier songs.

lots of weddings. I asked him which song he was royally sick of playing and he said Sweet Home Alabama.

I cannot fathom why that song is so well liked by anybody...

Melt with You - Modern English (great song, can't stand it after hearing it LITERALLY millions of times!)

If You Leave - OMD (same thing. And they have such a GREAT catalog to choose from! Why only this song?!?!?)

Hold Me Now - Thompson Twins (another great band that has this ONE SONG that get played to DEATH).

Love Shack - B-52's (I still love the song, but I'd love it even more if it were a less common treat).

Familiarity does indeed breed contempt.....

At least in my neck of the woods, the stations that play 70s rock hardly ever play it anymore (though I'll concede that those of you who were actually around for the 70s might have gotten a lifetime fill then)

I think "Bohemian Rhapsody" is the current champ of Death By Clear Channel.

As for "American Pie," good chorus, but the basic premise of the song is stupid,

I can't believe they still play that thing. Turn to a stupid "classic rock" station and I bet they play it at least once a day. It is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Peace

I like it, but it seems that "classic rock" stations (especially owned by Clear Channel) think that is the only classic rock song ever recorded.

I loved that song the first "thousand" times I heard it. When it started to show up on those singing competitions, I got sick of it.

Same with anything by Whitney Houston. Why do those people even try?

So I'm not barraged with song repetition anymore. It does take time to enjoy that music again. Usually 20 years for me. I once had neighbours with only one cassette tape - Dark Side of the Moon. That was over 30 years ago, and I'm just finally able to listen to it again.
