That answer is "no". They both have their place. Cats belong wherever they want to be and dogs belong wherever you tell them to sit.

I am basically a cat person; cats are a better pet for me, though I like dogs and wouldn't mind having one if my house was a little bigger. I particularly enjoy the weird quirkiness of cats but I also like the cheerful eagerness of dogs. But to say one is "better" than the other is really kind of meaningless.

Personally I'm not an or person when it comes to cats and dogs. I've always had both in my life. Dogs are more fun outdoors, but cats are easier to sleep with and better with being left alone all day.
