True test for the manliest of masculine MEN amongst men...

Still think women are the weaker sex? Men hooked up to machine which simulates the pain of childbirth – and are reduced to tears within minutes

The old maxim goes that if men rather than women had to have babies, the human race would have died out long ago.

Now those birthing pains are being felt by men in China.

A hospital in the city of Jinan in eastern China's Shandong Province is hooking men up to a childbirth simulator to see what their partner's go through.

A hospital in the city of Jinan in eastern China's Shandong Province is hooking men up to a childrbirth simulator to see what their partners go through.

Technicians at the hospital use the device to stimulate muscles in the male abdomen with electric shocks to make it contract and at the same time simulate the pain endured by mothers during childbirth.
.
Most of the volunteers are partners of pregnant women.

The hospital said they want to show men how much women suffer through childbirth, and to give men greater respect for what women go through.

'The event was aimed at creating awareness and more respect for childbearing women, especially highlighting the entire laborious nine-month process leading up to birth,' a hospital spokesman told CEN.

To recreate the contractions and pain of childbirth, hospital technicians used machines to stimulate the men's abdomens with electric shocks to make it contract.

Some men seemed reluctant— having been dragged there by their partners— while others were more enthusiastic, CEN reported.

'My wife is expecting a baby in three months, and we had a row when I told [her] not to make such a fuss,' father-to-be Guang Liao, 29, told CEN.

'When she found out about this project, she told me had to sign up for it, so I also know what is was all about.'

Many of the participants were reduced to tears by the experience, and could only last a few minutes

The hospital said they want to show men how much women suffer through childbirth, and to give men greater respect for what women go through.

'I must admit I was curious and if what I experienced is really what she goes through, then I have to say I have changed my attitude.

'It was really incredibly painful and I only had it for a few minutes.

'If it went on for hours I don't know if I'd be able to bear it,' he told the news agency.

and it's been said that the pain is as bad or worse than childbirth.
I don't know what childbirth is like, but if I never pass another stone, I won't be sorry.

If they want more, back to the man. Solve the population problem most likely.

was sitting at the far side of the hospital room, right by the window, a couple of hours after I had just had major abdominal surgery (absolutely necessary C-section) to have our child. I had gone into labor and had some very painful contractions for several hours, but no progress was made because I was too small and the baby was too big.

I was in bed flat on my back of course, not to move for two days. My mother was crying tears of joy and relief that my child and I were both safe.

What does the child's father do? He gives me a dirty look from way across the room, and says, "You're lazy."

Yeah that marriage didn't last very long. Having a healthy, happy child was a bad thing in his eyes. Abusive bastard.

this experiment is not "exploring your feminine side" - it's seeing if men can withstand pain that is exclusive to women - and the answer is generally NOT VERY WELL

what I think is hilarious is they go for the childbirth experiment - I'd love to see men carry on for days while dealing with the pain and discomfort of a monthly visit - there is no way!

I appreciate your taking the study seriously. My point was only a play off someone else's phrasing and an observation that serious studies don't play well in certain circles.

I suppose my satirical intent looked too much like what I was trying to make fun of.

I do appreciate serious interpretations of the information in the OP. All hail the holy sisterhood, men couldn't handle what women go through, etc. No hate here except for the cult of macho.

Is that they hooked the electrodes up to abdominal muscles. When I was in hard labor my lower back and rectal area were the areas that hurt the most. I was not feeling abdominal pain at all. Not sure if this was just me or not though.

My cervix got incredibly sore and that's where I'd feel so much pain right before I'd get a contraction. I thought the same thing when I read the OP. The actual contractions were bearable.

And never underestimate the power of a good midwife.

As far as pain, I find pain comparisons somewhat spurious as there as there are pain causes much worse than birthing, or kidney stones.

Nonetheless having a baby fucking hurts, and If Guys really want to go through that-- have at it.
