Here is a painting I finished this week from a vintage photo I came across. It's some kind of banquet or party from the late 60s or early 70s. I just loved it and had to do a painting of it.
I love turning vintage photos into art and I would love to take commissions for people who have photos they would like to see turned into bigger, more displayable artworks. My dream job!
I just got a new batch of vintage photos in the mail, and I'm sorting them out now.

(1,893 posts)You are an amazing artist! I love everything about this - I only wish I could embiggen it a little more to see the details.
Yeah, I love vintage photos too and I just love the way you've done this. The color palette, the composition and the painterly quality are all awesome. I'm getting a bit of an Ashcan School vibe from this painting, which is really cool.
I hope to see more of your work sometime.

(2,710 posts)I gave it up for a while, worked at a paint and chemical company in an administrative capacity, then had kids, but now I'm back at it. It's now or never, right?

(53,410 posts)I'm an artist also. Everything about this painting is very well done. It's a peak into a moment long ago that probably doesn't get much attention as a photograph. That's what I love about art. It transforms the mundane world around us into something worthy of note.
