Spare a few thoughts for Sam Simon, co-creator of The Simpsons

He's dying of cancer - has lived longer than initial estimates - and he's giving away his $100 million fortune to animal welfare causes and to feeding the hungry and homeless.

Whether or not you agree with his philanthropic choices (the mention of PETA here enrages some), his generosity can't be denied.

rights activist but not a PETA fan. But he's doing a lot of good regardless - and for those who are getting their panties in a wad over PETA being a big recipient of his generosity - it states in the article that he's doing something for people too: "funding projects that feed homeless people".

I'm glad he's giving his money away when he is gone. But, I still believe no one should have a hundred million dollars. It's just not right.

...The Simpsons leads the American culture. And, as usual, America doesn't get it...

Maria Shriver IS a Simpsons joke, if not a whole episode.
