He's dying of cancer - has lived longer than initial estimates - and he's giving away his $100 million fortune to animal welfare causes and to feeding the hungry and homeless.
Whether or not you agree with his philanthropic choices (the mention of PETA here enrages some), his generosity can't be denied.

But he's doing a lot of good regardless - and for those who are getting their panties in a wad over PETA being a big recipient of his generosity - it states in the article that he's doing something for people too: "funding projects that feed homeless people".
